Hong Kong's Securities and Futures Commission (SFC) chief executive Ashley Alder is set to succeed Richard Lloyd as the Chair of Financial Conduct Authority in the UK for a five-year term effective January 2023. Alder, 63, will step down as the CEO of SFC ahead of the end of his current appointment on September 30, 2023. Alder has been the CEO of SFC since October 1, 2011. He said he owes a debt of gratitude to all who have contributed to the evolution of the SFC into an organization which is acknowledged globally as one of a handful of world-class market regulators. Alder began his career as a lawyer in London in 1984 and practiced in Hong Kong for more than 20 years. He was executive director of the SFC’s Corporate Finance Division from 2001 to 2004.
