Hong Kong’s eMPF digital platform has processed nearly 600,000 instructions in its first year and is expected to reduce administrative fees by 36% within two years, according to the Mandatory Provident Fund Authority (MPFA).
Approximately 80% of instructions from enrolled members were submitted online, indicating strong adoption of the digital system. The platform is projected to generate cumulative savings of HKD30bn to HKD40bn over a decade, slashing trustee fees by up to 55%.
MPFA chair Ayesha Macpherson Lau stressed the importance of a long-term perspective in retirement planning and warned against frequent fund switching in response to market fluctuations.
