Hong Kong Economic Growth Expected to Exceed Third-Quarter Forecasts

Hong Kong economic growth is expected to exceed market forecasts for the third quarter of 2026, supported by strong exports, domestic demand and investment spending.
Financial Secretary Paul Chan Mo-po said preliminary indications suggested gross domestic product had expanded from the second quarter, potentially extending the city's economic growth to 15 consecutive quarters.
The economy grew 4.3% year-on-year during the second quarter.
Exports surged 64.9% in September to HKD762.57bn (USD97.5bn), representing the fastest monthly increase in more than four decades.
Private investment spending also recorded double-digit growth for three consecutive quarters, reflecting continued business investment activity.
Chan said stronger-than-expected performance could lead the government to revise its full-year economic growth forecast upwards.
The official projection currently stands at 3.5% to 4.5% for 2026.
For institutional investors and wealth managers, stronger economic performance could support confidence in Hong Kong's financial markets and investment outlook.
