The Hong Kong Monetary Authority (HKMA) and Hong Kong Cyberport Management Company launched the Generative Artificial Intelligence (GenA.I.) Sandbox at the FiNETech2 event on August 13. The initiative, part of the FiNETech series, aims to promote responsible innovation in the financial sector by allowing banks to pilot GenA.I. use cases within a controlled environment. The Sandbox provides technical assistance and supervisory feedback to enhance risk management, anti-fraud measures, and customer experience. FiNETech2, co-hosted by the HKMA, Cyberport, and the FinTech Association of Hong Kong, gathered over 300 professionals to explore A.I.’s transformative potential in finance. HKMA Chief Executive Eddie Yue highlighted the Sandbox as a pioneering step towards integrating GenA.I. into banking, with plans for future events on Greentech and Distributed Ledger Technology.
