HKEX allows listed firms to publish unaudited reports

The Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing (HKEX) has allowed listed firms to announce unaudited reports. This is the same arrangement as in 2020 as HKEX has rejected a request by the city's accountants to extend the deadline for announcing financial results amid the fifth wave of Covid infections in the city. HKEX said it understood that some market participants continued to face difficulties in their day-to-day operations amid the outbreak. Loretta Fong Wan-huen, the president of Hong Kong Institute of Certified Public Accountants, said it was difficult to meet the original deadline for the audit work due to confirmed Covid cases among the staff of the accounting firms. The stock exchange said it would continue to allow affected firms to publish unaudited result announcements or financial statements by March 31 to meet the requirement.
