The global ETFs industry saw a record 1,426 new product listings in the first nine months of 2024, according to ETFGI. After accounting for 412 closures, the net increase reached 1,014 products, surpassing the 2021 record of 1,311 listings. Total assets in ETFs hit USD14.46tr by the end of September, with USD1.24tr in net inflows year-to-date. Cryptocurrency ETFs dominated new launches, led by iShares Bitcoin Trust with US$23.23 billion in assets. Grayscale’s Bitcoin and Ethereum trusts also ranked among the top performers, reflecting strong investor interest since the approval of Bitcoin and Ethereum ETFs in 2024. The U.S. led with 529 new launches and 135 closures, followed by Asia-Pacific and Europe. Major issuers include iShares, Global X ETFs, and First Trust.
