G7 calls on China to preserve peace, stability across Taiwan Strait

The foreign ministers of the Group of Seven (G7) nations have reaffirmed their shared commitment to maintaining the rules-based international order, peace, and stability across the Taiwan Strait and beyond. In a joint statement, the G7 Foreign Ministers of Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, the UK, the US, and the High Representative of the European Union have called on China to resolve tension around the Taiwan Strait peacefully. The comments come after China demonstrated its outrage over a visit to Taiwan by US House of Representatives Speaker Nancy Pelosi with a burst of military activity in surrounding waters. Released in Germany, the joint statement of G7 foreign ministers said that there is no justification to use a visit as pretext for aggressive military activity in the Taiwan Strait.
