Family Office Scheme Attracts USD5.1bn as Malaysia Plans Expansion

The Malaysia family office scheme has attracted indicative assets under management of MYR20.8bn (USD5.1bn), strengthening the country’s ambitions to become a regional wealth management centre.
The Securities Commission Malaysia said the government plans to introduce a multi-family office model under Budget 2027, expanding the existing Single Family Office Incentive Scheme.
The proposed framework is intended to attract international wealthy families and asset owners while broadening Malaysia’s wealth management industry.
Budget 2027 also extends tax incentives for Islamic fund management and provides tax relief for eligible sukuk issuance costs, alongside grants supporting sustainable financing.
Malaysia’s Capital Market Masterplan 2026–2030 targets MYR90bn–MYR100bn in sustainable financing by 2030.
The regulator also expects the first Hong Kong-managed exchange-traded fund to list on Bursa Malaysia soon, reflecting efforts to strengthen international capital market connections.
Together, the initiatives could expand investment opportunities and financial services available to family offices operating in Malaysia.
