Coinbase, the largest cryptocurrency exchange in the US, announced that it has obtained a Major Payment Institution (MPI) licence from the Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS), allowing it to offer more services in the city-state. The granting of the MPI licence comes almost a year after Coinbase received in-Principle Approval from the central bank, which enabled it to offer regulated digital payment token products and services in the island nation. Coinbase considers Singapore as a vital market. About 25% of Singaporeans also consider crypto as the future of finance and 32% being either current or past owners of crypto. Coinbase said Singapore has naturally become a significant location for the industry.
