Concerns over AI taking jobs in Philippines exaggerated

Internet Society - Philippine Chapter (ISPC) founding chair Winthrop Yu has addressed concerns that artificial intelligence (AI) could replace Filipino workers, calling such fears exaggerated and stemming from a lack of understanding of technology. In an interview, Yu stated that while AI has made significant advances, there are still major obstacles to replacing human labour, especially in creative or nuanced tasks. He added that AI is improving, but likened its current capabilities to a grade school student's writing. The Employers’ Confederation of the Philippines also highlighted the need for the creation of new jobs and skill development in response to the rise of automation.
