China launches three-year drive to counter money laundering

The Chinese government has launched a three-year drive against money laundering as part of efforts to safeguard China's national security and social stability. According to a statement on the central government website, the campaign has started this year and will last until the end of 2024. The anti-money laundering drive is led by the country's central bank, the People's Bank of China, and the Ministry of Public Security, according to the statement. The campaign involves a total of 11 Chinese government agencies. The launch of the campaign comes as the Chinese government continues to acknowledge that money laundering remains severe. China, the statement said, will resolutely curb the spread of money laundering and related crimes.
