Brookfield to launch investment funds for wealthy individuals in Japan

Canadian asset manager Brookfield is set to launch investment funds targeting high-net-worth individuals in Japan next year, joining U.S. firms like Blackstone and KKR in the lucrative market. David Levi of Brookfield Oaktree Wealth Solutions revealed plans for an initial non-listed real estate investment trust (REIT) offering, collaborating with a major Japanese securities firm. Details are still being finalised, but the venture will involve raising funds through a public investment trust to invest in Brookfield’s REIT, with minimum investments expected in the tens of thousands of dollars. This move marks Brookfield’s first foray into publicly offered investment trusts in Japan, expanding beyond its existing private offerings. The strategy aligns with a broader trend of global asset managers targeting individual investors.
