
BlackRock, the world's premier asset manager, has unveiled its most substantial equity ETF in Singapore, the iShares MSCI Asia ex-Japan Climate Action ETF. Worth USD426m, this initiative targets investors keen on embedding low-carbon objectives in their asset collections. The fund emphasises Asian corporations determined to slash carbon footprints amidst the global pivot to sustainable energy. Key backers include Prudential PLC, a major Asian asset holder and a Net Zero Asset Owners Alliance member, along with a consortium comprising Temasek Holdings and Singapore Life. Don Guo, Prudential's Chief Investment Officer, noted the investment aligns with their green transformation vision. The ETF mirrors the MSCI Asia ex-Japan Climate Action index, spotlighting leading firms in green initiatives. Peter Loehnert of BlackRock stressed Asia Pacific's central role in energy transition investments, while Singapore's monetary authority commended the launch.
