Asian investors shift towards diversification amid global uncertainties



FleishmanHillard’s The Future of Asset Management in Asia 2024 report reveals Asian investors are diversifying their portfolios amid global uncertainties. Surveying 1,250 professionals across Asia, it finds major concerns over economic slowdown (42%), inflation (24%), and geopolitical tensions (16%). In response, 29% are moving towards lower-risk investments, while 49% of mainland Chinese investors are increasing their exposure to high-yield options. Interest is growing in private equity and credit funds, seen as ways to boost returns and manage risks. Key investment sectors include AI, internet, and biotech. The report emphasises the importance of asset managers’ credibility, performance, and transparency. Asia remains the preferred investment region, especially for Singaporean investors, with North America also favoured.
