1 in 3 working Malaysians has no personal protection

A study by Zurich Malaysia found that one in three working Malaysians has no personal protection due to misconceptions and a lack of information and understanding. The study showed that 14% of respondents think insurance or takaful is not necessary compared to 21% that think that it is sufficient when there is protection provided by the employer. The study further noted that 22% of the respondents indicated they still do not have enough information on insurance and takaful despite the numerous initiatives by insurers and takaful operators. The findings highlighted the important role that life insurance agents and takaful advisors played in ensuring understanding among the public.
