Vietnams’ new securities accounts drops to nearly 200,000 in July

Investors in Vietnam opened nearly 200,000 new securities accounts last month, a 57% decline from the previous month, according to data from the Vietnam Securities Depository (VSD). The number was also the lowest in about two years. Retail investors continued to be the market’s key contributor opening 198,988 new accounts, with 140 accounts from institutional investors. Also in July, domestic individual investors closed 3,279 accounts. In the first seven months of the year, domestic investors opened more than two million new securities accounts, far exceeding the figure for 2021 (1.53 million accounts).
