Vietnam posts higher economic growth in Q1

A pick-up in exports has helped Vietnam's economy weather the worst of the global pandemic. The economy expanded more than 5% in Q1 of this year from a worst of 2.6% annual growth in 2021 and 2.9% in 2020. Government data showed that gross domestic product came in at 5.03% on-year. Turnover from exports of goods in Q1 was at USD88.58bn, up by 12.9% percent on-year, the General Statistics Office disclosed. The country has long been an economic success story among Asian economies, posting growth of 7% in 2019.
