M&A in the technology sector in Vietnam has tripled in value and nearly doubled in activity in the past year, hitting USD1 billion from 42 deals in 2021. The deal volume compares to the 22 deals in 2020. According to data from VnEconomy, tech giants in Vietnam have recently employed M&A to expand their ecosystems. For H1 of this year, despite some turbulence in equity and debt markets, private equity and venture capital investments in the technology sector continued to sustain growth. Ernst & Young said the main technologies fields in Vietnam that have attracted a large number of investments include Finch, Edtech, Logistics, and business automation. Globally, E&Y said M&A activities would remain resilient in 2022 but further shocks could derail the outlook.
