Taiwanese investors shift from China to ASEAN, US for supply chain

Taiwanese investors now look to ASEAN and the US to improve supply chain resilience and diversify investment risks, according to DBS Group Holdings. These investors shift investment focus away from China as they prioritise increasing supply chain resilience. DBS said Taiwan's tech sector would remain competitive globally over the next five years. Taiwan's foreign direct investment (FDI) in ASEAN member states totalled USD4bn in the first 10 months of 2022. The region is set to become Taiwan's largest FDI destination. The US is also emerging as a major investment destination for Taiwanese companies, with Taiwan's FDI in the US exceeding USD8bn in the past four years.
