Singapore vows to boost bilateral relationship with Malaysia

Singapore is giving more importance to its bilateral relationship with Malaysia as both countries enter a new global environment. Deputy Prime Minister Lawrence Wong said his four-day visit was a chance to strengthen ties with Malaysian ministers, adding that as Singapore embarks on its leadership transition, it will continue to find ways to strengthen this relationship. Wong noted that both countries have a high level of interdependence across many areas, and their relationship is underpinned by close people-to-people and family ties. Wong, who is also finance minister, said he would encourage Singapore’s younger ministers to visit Malaysia.
