Singapore urges global collaboration to regulate AI, digital currencies

Singapore’s Deputy Prime Minister Heng Swee Keat has urged global regulators to collaborate in managing risks from emerging technologies such as generative AI and digital currencies. Speaking at the Point Zero Forum, Heng highlighted the potential for disruption these technologies could cause. He urged industry leaders and regulators to promote safe and responsible AI use, emphasise a commitment to sustainability, and establish trust for cross-border digital finance. As part of this commitment, Singapore has taken measures to foster a secure AI ecosystem, including the release of the Veritas Toolkit 2.0. Furthermore, a new initiative called Project MindForge will explore the risks and opportunities generative AI presents to the financial sector.
