Singapore’s accounting sector urged to redesign jobs

The Singapore government has urged the city-state’s accounting industry to redesign jobs and monitor what it described as the “Great Resignation” trend in other countries. Second Minister for Finance Indranee Rajah told the industry that employees in the US and the UK have resigned in a desire for better work-life balance, more flexible work arrangements, and a greater sense of fulfillment. She added that the professional services industry in Singapore should not ignore the trend even as the same phenomenon is still unseen in Singapore. Firms need to pay serious attention to job redesign, the well-being of their employees, and the strengthening of their internal culture to be in tune with the aspirations of accounting professionals, she said.
