The Hong Kong Investment Funds Association (HKIFA) annual conference was inaugurated by HKIFA Chairman Nelson Chow, and provided a much-needed platform for the fund industry to hash out ideas and create partnerships. Julia Leung, CEO of the Securities and Futures Commission, gave an insightful keynote speech outlining her vision, regulatory focuses, and the path ahead for the industry. Engaging dialogues with the chairs of key associations illuminated their priorities and aspirations, highlighting collaborative opportunities to reinvigorate the fund industry. Afternoon sessions shed light on technical aspects, such as post-retirement and tokenization, triggering a flurry of inquiries from attentive attendees. The post-coffee sessions were equally engaging, covering timely topics such as China’s onshore/offshore challenges, talent nurturing strategies, and ESG. With panel members sharing their experiences and lessons, the conference proved to be a fertile ground for sharing ideas and building a revitalized future for the fund industry.
