Malaysian Prime Minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob expressed confidence that Malaysia will be able to achieve its economic targets this year following what a positive economic performance in 2021. The Malaysian PM made the pronouncement as he downplayed reports that the government had failed to revive the economy following the COVID-19 pandemic. The positive economic performance, he stressed, gives the impression that Malaysia is heading towards economic recovery to achieve the projected GDP growth of 5.5% to 6.5% for 2022. The target is in line with the projections made by the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank.
