Maybank announced that it has appointed Khairussaleh Ramli, the former group managing director of RHB Banking Group, as its new group president and CEO from May 1. Khairussaleh, 54, will succeed Abdul Farid Alias. The bank said Khairussaleh had a stint with Maybank between November 2008 and September 2013. Back then, he was the group's chief financial officer for more than three years. He was then appointed president-director and CEO of the bank's Indonesian operations. While at Maybank Indonesia, he introduced a business transformation programme that led to its turnaround and an 81% profit growth for FY2012. Maybank chairman Zamzamzairani Mohd Isa expressed confidence that with Khairussaleh’s vast experience, he will be able to lead Maybank in its next growth phase, pillared on the M25 focus areas of digitalisation, sustainability, and new value drivers.
