Malaysia, Indonesia can do more to become global halal leader

To become bigger players in the global halal industry, Malaysia and Indonesia need to go beyond focusing on the standardisation of halal certificates and build the halal economy ecosystem. According to Indonesian ambassador to Malaysia Hermono, both countries should be taking the lead and be the main player in the global halal industry, instead of non-Muslim majority countries such as Thailand, Brazil, and Australia. Indonesia is the largest Muslim-populated country while Malaysia is a Muslim-majority nation. Hermono said Malaysia and Indonesia can cooperate to develop and tap into the huge potential of the halal economy.
