Singapore-based private credit investment manager, Orion Credit Capital Asia, has achieved the first close of its Fund III, gathering up to USD205m in commitments. Specialising in direct lending in the Asia Pacific, Orion Capital Asia addresses the needs of middle-market businesses underserved by conventional banks. Having already invested more than USD1.5bn, including with co-lenders, the firm avoids distressed assets. In 2020, OMERS, the pension plan for Ontario's municipal employees, made an equity investment in Orion. The CEO of Orion Capital Asia, Nitish Agarwal, expressed enthusiasm over the successful fundraising, highlighting the appeal of middle-market direct lending in the Asia Pacific. OMERS Global Credit's Ani Deshmukh emphasized the growth potential in the region and their continued partnership with Orion.
