Hong Kong to revoke Covid-19 vaccination requirement for employment

The legal obligation for Hong Kong employees to be vaccinated against Covid-19 under the Employment Ordinance will be officially revoked on June 16, according to a government statement. This was announced by the Labour Department on the same day when it declared that the Employment (Amendment) Ordinance 2022 (Commencement) Notice would be released in the Gazette on Friday (Apr 14), taking effect on June 16. The Labour Department's spokesman said, "there will be no vaccination provisions under the Ordinance starting from June 16, and any legitimate vaccination request made under the Ordinance prior to the aforesaid date shall cease to have effect on or after that date.” The government justified its decision by referring to the full restoration of Hong Kong's normalcy following the removal of the statutory Vaccine Pass requirement earlier.
