Ho Chi Minh City targets 6.5% growth for 2022

The government of Ho Chi Minh City has set an ambitious economic growth target for this year of 6-6.5% following its effective control of the pandemic since the end of September. Phan Van Mãi, chairman of the city’s People’s Committee, said to achieve the goal it was vital to sustain the current excellent COVID-19 prevention results. Mãi’s announcement came after a recent survey by the American Chamber of Commerce in Vietnam revealed that HCM City is leading the country in economic reopening and recovery. Almost all firms in the country’s largest city have resumed operations. With the COVID-19 pandemic now under control in HCM City, businesses will need 280,000-310,000 new workers this year, according to a report by the HCM City Centre for Human Resource Forecast and Labour Information.
