The Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing (HKEX) has reshaped its senior management, appointing Bonnie Chan as the new CEO, starting May 24, 2024. Chan, with over 30 years in finance and law, currently serves as HKEX’s co-chief operating officer and was a partner at Davis Polk & Wardwell. She succeeds Nicolas Aguzin, whose term ends in May 2024. HKEX chairman Laura Cha praised Aguzin for his contributions during a critical period and looks forward to a smooth transition. Additionally, Wilfred Yiu is appointed deputy chief executive, effective May 24, 2024, while retaining his co-COO role. Yiu, a capital markets veteran, joined HKEX in 2019 after roles at Beijing Gao Hua Securities and Goldman Sachs. Vanessa Lau will become co-COO, alongside her role as group chief financial officer.
