Green fintech on the Rise in SE Asia, finds UOB-PwC-SFA report

A report released by UOB, PwC Singapore, and the Singapore Fintech Association said green fintech is a promising new growth area in Southeast Asia, with green fintech firms bringing innovative solutions to help businesses and governments address challenges and opportunities of going green. The report - Fintech in ASEAN 2023: Seeding the Green Transition - said the popularity of green fintech comes as sustainability is garnering significant investor interest in the region despite macroeconomic conditions in 2023. In the first nine months of 2023, greentech and green fintech companies in the region’s six largest economies, also referred to as “ASEAN-6”, secured a total of USD169m. Although that figure represents a decline from 2022’s USD300m total, the number is already higher than 2021’s USD129m.
