Global investment manager major Franklin Templeton has named Yu Qing, a former Nomura Holdings executive, as its managing director and head of China operations effectively immediately. Yu, who was most recently chairman of the board at Nomura Orient International Securities, the Japanese firm’s China securities joint venture, will be responsible for overall leadership and strategic direction at Franklin Templeton’s China onshore business, according to a statement. She will report to Franklin Templeton’s Asia Pacific chairman Beg Meng and relocate to Shanghai from Beijing. California-based Franklin Templeton had approximately US$1.45 trillion in assets under management as of May 31 2022.
