Citigroup has announced pivotal appointments in its Asia Pacific division following a significant global reorganisation. Jan Metzger, previously heading Capital Markets and Advisory in Asia, now leads the investment bank for Asia North, Australia, and Asia South. Former Asia corporate head, Kaleem Rizvi, is appointed as corporate bank head for Asia North and Australia, while K Balasubramanian takes charge of corporate banking for Asia South. Gunjan Kalra continues to lead commercial banking for these regions. These changes, part of Citigroup's strategy to cut management layers from 13 to eight and streamline operations, include a 15% reduction in top-level roles and the elimination of 60 committees. This restructuring, reported by the Wall Street Journal, marks Citigroup's most significant overhaul in decades.
